Flexible Honing Directly on the Engine
The Chris-Marine HON S is a portable pneumatic cylinder liner honing machine designed for efficient on-site use. Therefore, maintenance teams can hone liners directly on the engine or in a honing rig without dismantling major components. Moreover, the system supports liner bores from 150 to 670 mm, making it suitable for a wide range of 2-stroke and 4-stroke diesel engines.
Accurate Honing for Restored Liner Geometry
HON S restores liner shape, removes scuffing, and re-establishes the correct surface cross-pattern. Consequently, piston rings achieve improved oil retention and reduced wear. Variable hoisting speed and exchangeable gearboxes allow operators to fine-tune the cross-angle pattern and honing capacity for each application. pneumatic honing machine
Safe, User-Friendly, and Fully Pneumatic
The machine operates fully on compressed air, although an electric drive unit is available on request. Additionally, the redesigned external control box places speed, stone pressure, reset, and emergency controls in one location, improving safety and ease of use. Automatic stroke control further ensures consistent results throughout the honing process.
A Proven Alternative to Conventional Honing Machines
Compared with standard portable honing machines, HON S offers patented safety features, including an optional chain slack detector and vibration dampers that reduce head wear and liner surface patterns. Optional upgrades such as 8-armed honing heads and a torque wrench kit improve accuracy and productivity. Therefore, HON S stands out as a reliable alternative to generic honing equipment from other manufacturers.
