Cargo and Ballast Automation
VRC® is a flexible, modular automation platform designed to run on standard computers with a user-friendly Human-Machine Interface (HMI) based on Microsoft Windows. Developed in collaboration with experienced onboard officers, the system reflects the day-to-day operational needs of modern vessels. The system is scalable, allowing it to meet the specifications of both large and small projects.
At its core, VRC® includes standard control functions, which can be enhanced with advanced tools specific to each application. The system’s design supports features like optional slave operation or full redundancy compliance. It can handle tasks ranging from stern ramp indication to deep well pump control. Additionally, systems components are globally available and easily replaceable, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ease of maintenance.
Installation and Verification
Kockumation designs and manufactures VRC® systems for new builds or retrofits, using primarily in-house components. The system’s wide range of communication and integration capabilities allows it to interface with virtually any shipboard component, meeting the preferences of both the yard and the owner. Before delivery, each VRC® system undergoes thorough testing in a simulation environment, reducing on-site commissioning time. This simulation also provides valuable user training.
The Ideal Retrofit Solution
Older vessels often rely on outdated automation systems, making spare parts difficult to find and costly to replace. VRC® provides a modern solution, utilizing standard PC components with readily available, low-cost parts. During retrofits, Kockumation ensures that economically viable components are retained while obsolete ones are replaced.
