The ELECTRO–TYFON® MTX 150/130 ship whistle is electrically driven piston designed for large commercial vessels with LOA above 200 meters. It delivers powerful, regulation-compliant sound signaling while maintaining low noise levels at onboard listening positions. It features minimal moving parts, a “swinging piston,” a cylinder that requires no lubrication, and an oil-free gearbox.

Thanks to its patented rectangular horn and adaptive motor control, the whistle automatically adjusts motor speed to the horn’s acoustic resonance. Therefore, it maintains consistent sound output regardless of ambient temperature, voltage, or frequency fluctuations—an advantage over many alternative electric and pneumatic ship whistles.

IMO-Compliant Sound Distribution and Easy Installation

To meet IMO 1972 sound signaling regulations, the MTX 150/130 features unsymmetrical sound distribution. This design delivers the required Sound Pressure Level for navigation while keeping noise at listening posts below 110 dBA. Furthermore, the electrically driven configuration allows fast and straightforward installation, even where compressed air systems are impractical.
